The impact of a twelve and a half kilo H6 chondrite into the back of Ms. Michelle Knapp's parked car on the evening of October 9, 1992 is the best known meteoritic event of modern times. Everyone has heard of the "car that was hit by a meteorite."

R.A. Langheinrich Meteorites own the world-famous car, and this vehicle has seen the world too. The battered red Malibu coupe has been featured in museums and exhibitions in New York City, Tucson, Arizona, Paris, Switzerland, Germany, and Tokyo! It has brought wonder and amazement to the thousands of people who have flocked to see the car who's trunk was caved in by a visitor from outer space.

We documented the Peekskill Meteorite Car's world tour, and you can follow its journey by clicking on the links below, or on the country names above.

The Peekskill Meteorite Car has been exhibited by some of the world's great scientific institutions, including The American Museum of Natural History in New York City, and the Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (French Space Agency).
